  7. inklingite

inklingite edited the characters of Surprised by Joy Tuesday, March 30, 2010.

    • Edited the description of The Great Knock: Professor Kirkpatrick was Lewis' tutor for what amounted to his junior/senior years in high school. A Scott and aan empiricist, he taught Lewis to read and write Latin and Greek, but more importantly taught him to understand the importance of words, the singular meaning that language must have in order to be comprehensible. This was a lesson that, though misleading in Jack's spiritual progression, proved invaluable for his mental acuity and discipline, and ultimately allowed him the precision and flexibility to conceive and write his great spiritual works that remain popular and relevant to this day.
