I've taught this book to AP seniors for nine years and it is my favorite book ever. Each time I read it I find more in Morrison's language to appreciate. Definitely her best work, but not always the most recognized. The quest of a young black man for independence and self knowledge is mythic,...

I do not recall how I got turned onto Toni Morrison, but right after college I began reading her. I recall very much enjoying this story.

This is a book about racism and a boy whose father is a tax collecter and his mother is the Docters daughter.
I find this book very interesting and I wish to finish this book.

The best use of bible imagery I've encountered, excluding maybe John Steinbeck, mixed in with that of African traditions. The definitive Morrison.

Toni Morrison is a wonderful story teller, but I was let down by the ending of Song of Solomon. I didn't follow the reasoning for the character's actions and the flying motif was a little too mystical for me.

Great book, interesting with lots of symbolism. I still don't get some of symbolism but I liked it - I even kept this one on my own book shelf.

do not read this when feeling depressed.

The most memorable quote is ofcourse "Four years at Bryn Mawr had done what any liberal arts education was suppose to do: unfit her for 80% of the useful work in the world."
