The way this author was able to craft a tale that both broke my heart and renewed my spirit is nothing short of amazing. The language of this novel as Price-Thompson takes us from the red-clay of Alabama to the Motherland in Kenya is so riveting... The prose is beautiful and rugged at the same time. This is a novel that should be taught in college Literature classrooms across the country. It deals with so many issues from prostitution to female genital mutilation. I know I plan to teach it in...
