“♦ The Story:
I'm not really going to do a full review for this book since the essence of it is essentially the same as Beautiful Disaster. Here is my review for that:
♦ The POVs:
I loved, LOVED, getting Travis' POV. Sooo many things were explained seeing it through his eyes. Some were even worse than before but some were sooo much better! (the two girls on the couch)
♦ Some Differences:
I would recommend reading Beautiful Disaster first. You won't really hate Abby as much and just feeling the things emotionally from her POV is sooo worth it. Plus, there are some scenes in this book that are not fully explained as they are in BD.
I really enjoyed getting to know Travis' family a lot more. His brothers and Dad are great and it really brought a lot to the story especially that prologue....ugh, so heartbreaking!
The epilogue...sooo good and while I enjoyed it, it wasn't quite as good as what JM wrote about their one year anniversary. You can find that here:
♦ The Song:
♦ The Quotes (there's a lot!):
♥ "When the sad went away, I would always play, and I would always fight. Hard." (heart breaking!!)
♦ “Give her some credit. She knows exactly what you’re doing. You’re not her first rodeo.” (LOVE Mare!!)
♥ Abby smiled. “Try harder.”
“Try harder.” (thankfully, he gets it eventually!!)
♥ “You know what, Mr. Maddox?”
Her expression turned serious. “In another life, I could love you.”
I watched her for a moment, staring into her glassed-over eyes. She was drunk, but just for a moment it didn’t seem wrong to pretend that she meant it.
“I might love you in this one.” (~sigh~)
♥ “I don’t understand you, either. You’re supposed to be this school’s ladies’ man. I’m not getting the full freshmen experience they promised in the brochure.” (LOVE that!)
♥ “I know we’re f*cked up, all right? I’m impulsive and hot tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then you need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don’t deserve you . . . but I f*cking love you, Abby. I love you more than I’ve loved anyone or anything, ever. When you’re around, I don’t need booze or money or the fighting or the one-night stands . . . all I need is you. You’re all I think about. You’re all I dream about. You’re all I want.” (well said, Mr. Maddox!)
♥ “You love me?”
“It’s the tattoos.” (LOVE that too!)
♥ “You know why I want you? I didn’t know I was lost until you found me. I didn’t know what alone was until the first night I spent without you in my bed. You’re the one thing I’ve got right. You’re what I’ve been waiting for, Pigeon.” (he definitely has a way with words!!)
♦ “What do you want to do first?” I asked.
“I’m definitely not marrying you.”
“You’re f*cking hilarious. Let’s go downstairs.” (shout out to Shepley...such a great best friend/cousin)
♥ “We are dysfunctional, Travis. I think you’re just obsessed with the thought of owning me more than anything else.” (well said, Abby. glad it became so much more.)
♥ “I’m done, Travis.” I winced.
“Don’t say that.”
“It’s over. Go home.”
My eyebrows pulled in. “You’re my home.” (love the last line)
♥ "I collapsed to my knees, and my brothers surrounded me, placing their hands on my head and shoulders for support. (love those Maddox boys!)
♥ “To douche bags!” I said, gesturing to Brad. “And to girls that break your heart.” I bowed to Abby. My throat tightened. “And to the absolute f*cking horror of losing your best friend because you were stupid enough to fall in love with her.” (best line e-v-e-r!!)
♦ Just Because I Love This:
♦ My Recommendation:
If you loved Beautiful Disaster, you won't want to miss this.”
