“This was a very good story for much of the way, but really started to drag near the end. It also got too "mystical" for my taste and I was a bit disappointed by the sudden ending treatment of Rupert without much explanation. I loved the description of her art especially and many of the characters.
But, again, this was filled with errors and needs an editor for a better rating. Missing/misused punctuation, run-ons, missing words, wrong word forms, including mismatched word tenses/forms. And many just plain 'boners'...alright for all right, bazaar for bizarre, site for sight (do so many people really not know the difference? I'm stunned...), stunk for stank, off of, masthead for figurehead, sat for set, bare for bear, clamored for clambered (shockingly, the 2nd time I've seen this ?), damndest for damnedest, a'int for ain't, stripped for striped, fiance for fiancee, plains for planes. List is available.
And this also disabled my font/typeface selection and looked fully justified...and also showed inconsistent paragraph indents...not the first time for that either. Something needs to be done at Amazon or with their instructions to authors for prep for conversion. I'm just...getting angry...
I just noted the replies by the author on my review. Sadly, Shelfari does NOT 'notify' of replies or votes. I think it should...
Anyway, lesson learned. It's now obvious to me that there are MANY authors who are getting ripped off by so-called editors. They're getting very little for their money...obviously. That's outrageous but not unexpected in today's "me first", self-centered, greedy world. I don't know the answer...all I can do is offer my clippings to help. Sorry that I simply can't ignore these issues with the books I read. It needs to be fixed...somehow.”
