I confess I watched the movie first. But after reading the graphic novel I thought it was WAY better. This novel is amazing! The plot was more coherent for me this time where the movie confused me in some parts the book did a better job explaining. Nice work. I would recommend this read.

A very enjoyable read. The art is raw.

Basically the movie is a shot for shot recreation. I just love Frank Miller's art style. Gritty and awesome. A definite read if you were a fan of the movie. And if you haven't seen the movie somehow...also a definite read.

This a great book with great art. I bought the original issues when they were first released and I had to get the hardcover too. I don't usually purchase the same thing twice but it was that good. The movie wasn't bad but the book is far better. Where did the monsters and mutants in the movie come from?

As visually stunning as anything by Miller, 300 is a straightforward retelling of the ancient battle between the Greeks and the Persians at Thermopylae. It's lack of female characters is not a sexist oversight but a symptom of historical gender-centricism. Odd then, that some of the men drawn in the novel are distinctly effeminate. A great, quick, action-packed read for all.

300 is a graphic novel that was originally written as a comic in 5 parts. Compile into a hardback book, 300 is the account of the historic military campaign for Greece against a Persian invasion.

The reader is taken into a society of warriors. From the time a boy is born he is trained to show no fear and that death in battle is the highest honor. None but the strongest survive and they kill any children with handicaps and deformities. This is Sparta.

I am not a big history fan, but when I watched this movie – I was impressed with the use of computer graphics and acting that set the mood of this film. They made every effort to follow the comic and did a superb job. I must not have been the only one impressed with the artistic nature of the comic. First published as a series of comics titled Honor, Duty, Glory, Combat and Victory, the works won three Eisner Awards in 1999. This led to the book and then the movie. Well worth the blood and gore, the illustrations are outstanding. by Liz

Great graphic novel but if you like this, read Gates of Fire.
