I can't say I loved this book, as much as I would like to. First off, I think the baking section is way too big, but then, I don't really bake. I also...well I've had it for over 6 months and have yet to make anything from it. So I can't say the recipes or the food is bad, something about it...

the chocolate chip cookie recipie in this book is to die for!!!

The vegetable soup is yummy as well, try the chili recipie if you can. I've cooked a few things out of this book and i've loved every one of them. It is a little challenging due to the whole no diary, no meat thing, but well worth the buy.

I also...well I've had it for over 6 months and have yet to make anything from it. So I can't say the recipes or the food is bad, something about it just doesn't speak to me. What I DID love, was the list in the back of ways to use everyday products in different ways, etc. That was really what caught me in the store and it is indeed the only thing I have used it for.

Great simple book on vegan cookery. A great book for starting out if you're not much of a cook or don't like to cook or, if you're like me and feel the need to go vegan every once in a while to feel healthier. Gives you basics like vegan mayonnaise and such that are real life savers, but includes real meals that are pleasant and filling. Cute little anecdotes preceed all the recipes so it's just plain fun to read as well. Don't let all the cutesy-tootsy pictures of the gals at scooter rallys or looking up coyly from a place setting throw you off. Especially good book for young college-age kids. Make sure to grab the second in the series "Garden of Vegan" as they compliment each other like a set.

So far, so good. The carrot cake recipe is easy and delicious. We like it with a vegan butter cream frosting - add some coconut to top it off. Good ideas on uses of vinegar, too!
