  • Michael: Commander of the Malakim army, Michael is haunted by visions of a bleeding tree growing atop a blackened skull. Reckless and compassionate, he often provokes the wrath of the Shaityrim by influencing mortals to defect.
  • Hashatan: Official name: Lucifer Haylel. Also known as Shaitan. He is the self-proclaimed lord of shadow, prince of darkness, and king of Mortal-earth. He seeks rule of Shamayim, but must first annihilate the ancestral line of the Heir prophesied foretold to be his downfall. He devises mortal methods of execution for amusement, and plays psychological mind games with Michael.
  • Gavriel: Lieutenant Commander of the Malakim army, Gavriel is highly intelligent, orderly, and efficient. Unlike his commander, he follows orders without question or hesitation, and feels caring for mortals is "an unnecessary grief."
  • The Prince: Official Name: Jehuva Ben Elyon. He is the Captain of the Malakim army and personification of his father's soul. Passionate yet eccentric, he is haunted by the "Black Wine", and often writes dark poetry in the seclusion of his hidden garden.
  • Mauriel: The telepathic Seraph who oversees the infirmary in Shamayim. She cares deeply for Michael, and often chides him to exert more caution in battle.
