I had never read Fern Michaels before and I thought this was a very well written book that I just couldn't put down. I literally read it in a weekend because I couldn't stop. My only reason for 4 versus 5 stars is the rather anti-climactic ending. I had hoped for more of a BIG ending!
But I would recommend this book.
Really enjoyable

I loved this book! If you are a fan of Jayne Ann Krentz or Janet Evanovich you will enjoy this book. It's fiction so don't expect it to be entirely realistic, has some lightness although no one can compete with Evanovich for humor, has the same twists and turns strangeness characteristic of Krentz fiction. It was a very easy read that I enjoyed. I am interested it reading more of Fern Michaels now because of it.
Loved it!!

An OK book. Im a big romance novel fan and i like to give all books a chance. When i started reading this book i thought it was going to be a great story. And at the beginning it was. Michaels introduced her main character (Lucy) very nicely.

Lucy is a hot shot lawyer who wins almost all her cases. At one point however, she gets tired of defending criminals that she figures to be innocent people. She decides to leave the city and move to the suburbs. She finds out that her fiance is a criminal himself and is now out to kill her. Lucy's character is a little contradicting. At the beginning she is portrayed as a stubborn, intelligent, strong woman. When she is faced with a legal matter of her own, she turns weak and doesnt know what to do. Not a very good character.

Her neighbor (Wylie) is also a laywer. Hes single, lives with his dog and starts falling in love with Lucy. Not a very good character either. Theres really no great qualities that you can pick up from him by reading.

The book just goes downhill as you read it. It is very detailed at the beginning and then seems very rushed towards the end. The ending is just childish. A criminal who is kept in the garage while the FBI is eating Thanksgiving dinner with the victims. Give me a break. Michaels needed to do more research on the law aspect of it. She also needs to link her events a little better.

Im a little reluctant about her stories now. Its the first one ive read and im not too convinced. Perhaps another one will be better.
I agree, this was TERRIBLE!

Everything about this book was painful. The dialogue was aweful, every twist in the plot was completely obvious, even the characters names were cheesy. Do not waste your time.
