Cast of Characters/Important People
- Poison: A willful, stubborn girl. She doesn't quite accept her life as it has been dealt to her, and when her little sister is spirited away by phaeries, she sees it as a perfect chance to save her sister and escape from her dreary, depressing life.
- Azalea: Poison's baby sister that is taken by Phaeries, a changeling in her place.
- Hew: Poison's dad; he doesn't really understand her, and tries to ignore it when her and Snapdragon fight.
- Faraway: Poison's mom; she died before the book even began.
- Snapdragon: Poison's stepmom. They don't get along well, and the fight whenever they can. Snapdragon tries to be civil when Hew is around, because she loves him.
- Fleet: Adventurous man, poison's neighbor. She goes to him for advice when Azalea is taken, because he knows more than anyone else in town about the land beyond Gull (the town where they live).
First Sentence
