Shannon Sutherland is a third-year law student and a part-time law clerk at a small firm in Downtown Los Angeles. She is looking forward to graduation, studying for the California Bar Exam, traveling in Europe thereafter, and the commencement of her full-time legal career with the law firm in which she clerked as a student. Between law school and work, Shannon has little time for much else. As a consequence, she doesn’t see movies, watch television, or read much other than her law school textbooks and work-related reading.

While out one night at a local pub, Shannon meets Will MacKenzie, an extremely good-looking and charismatic Englishman, who shows interest in her. Shannon and Will begin to date regularly. Will is guarded when it comes to providing details about his life and, particularly, his work. During this time, Shannon becomes increasingly concerned regarding what it is Will is keeping from her.

While Will is away on business, Shannon uncharacteristically reads a tabloid magazine and learns that Will is a successful actor, rumored to be in a long-term relationship with his co-star from a successful movie franchise. Believing that Will is cheating on his co-star with her, Shannon breaks up with Will via text message. Will returns to Los Angeles to explain that he did not tell her about his career because he is simply trying to lead a normal life without all the trappings of his fame and have a normal relationship with her, that the rumors of his relationship with his co-star are false, and that he loves Shannon.

Shannon and Will continue with their relationship while Shannon finishes law school, graduates, studies for the California Bar Exam, travels in the U.K and Europe after the Bar Exam, and commences her legal career. During this time, Will engages in a promotional tour for the third installment of his successful movie franchise, and shoots two other films.

Will tries to keep his relationship with Shannon a secret from the public to protect her from the tabloid rumors and paparazzi. Nonetheless, the relationship is finally discovered, wreaking havoc on their lives and straining their relationship to the breaking point. A romantic triangle including a co-worker of Shannon's and jealousies regarding Will's romantic history further complicate matters.

Tamara Carlisle takes readers on a romantic ride with a twist that explores a love that endures all.
