“Wonderful addition to the series”

(OK, maybe the beach at midnight . . . ) Less like Laurell K. Hamilton, more like Alexandre Dumas with a good editor.”

Truth be told, it was quite slow in the beginning and this is what accounted for my not being able to continue. The second time around, I sped through the beginning and realized that it gets so much more exciting after that! I loved the Darsanga scenes. Once you get over the speed bump, the plot of this book is actually much better than that its predecessors. Glad I finished this, though not sure I'm up to tackling the Imriel series just yet.”

Dangling plot string are tied off neatly - except for the couple that are left open for the following books. :) Highly recommend this trilogy as a whole.
Note: this is a fantasy with sparse fantasy elements, rather than overwhelming ones. The semi-historical places are recognizable as the equivalents of real-world ones and it keeps the reader moving to the end of the story.
Give it a shot!”
“A worthy conclusion for Carey's first "Kushiel" trilogy, featuring a more mature Phédre no Delaunay. I enjoyed it just as much as its predecessors.”
