An entire family has disappeared from their Boston townhouse: gone without a trace. Investigator, Tessa Leoni knows that this is no ordinary kidnapping. Two days go by without a word about ransom and suddenly the father and husband, Justin Denbe, owner of Denbe Construction sends a video stating that he has enacted the kidnapping clause in his life insurance policy to the tune of nine million dollars to be transferred to an off shore account by 3:00 P.M. Monday or the family is dead.

No one knows better than Tessa Leoni that the most perfect facades can hide deep, dark secrets. The Denbe's it seems have more than there share. The clock is ticking and Tessa, the FBI and a new Hampshire sheriff must uncover this families innermost dealings, a tangle of friendships and betrayals, big business and small sacrifices.
