I found what the haoles had done to the indigenous Hawaiians pretty despicable. It was a bit of tragic story, but interesting. I had no idea that her father was a Scot.”

Her uncle, who is named Papa Moi, rules the Hawaiian islands. Kaiulani tells how she lives through her life as a princess. How she has a private tuitor named Miss Gardinier. She also tells how her father is making her go to London for schooling so she can learn how to behave like a queen. As time goes by in London Kaiulani keeps getting horrible news her uncle and auntie. She was feeling so depressed. Eventually the Americans overthrew Queen Liliokalani when she was put on the thrown after Papa Moi died. When they threw her off she went to jail because she was caught with weapons in her home. When Kaiulani found out about this horrific event she was even m;ore depressed. Since her Father didnt work for the queen anymore they didnt have a lot of money so Kaiulani had to get a job. Later, she moved to the big island to live with her friends. Her father would come and visit her every now and then. In 1889 her friends and her went on a horse back ride in the poring rain. She got so ill. Her Father took her to the home he built and took care of her. Unfotunatly she died. On page 215 it says she died on March 6th 1899. Kaiulani's hopes and dreams had faded away when she died. Ahe went to schooling for nothing, her family lost the monarchy, and she never got to become queen. ”

But I live by the rule, once you start a book you've got to finish it. I wouldn't recommend this book but it was interesting thought. I just thought it didn't have enough action in the middle of it.”
