Knuth's TAOCP always seemed too heavyweight for me (although I've used it as a reference), and expands to a broader selection of topics: not only the math, but approaches (e.g. compilation techniques in the upcoming volumes), and related history.
And this one for me is perfectly balanced with mathematics, and awareness of the real world (I admire pseudocode with more pleasure than (M)MIX).”
“I used this book for my algorithms course, and enjoyed it. This book is a must study for every computer science or engineering student.”
