• Elena Gilbert: The golden girl, she has returned from the dead to be with her vampire lover, Stefan Salvatore. She is now a 'spirit child'.
• Stefan Salvatore: Elena's vampire boyfriend, he loves her dearly and would give anything for her.
• Damon Salvatore: Stefan's 'evil' brother, he is a bad vampire that feeds on humans, and he wants Elena. He tries to make Stefan's life miserable.
• Meredith Sulez: One of Elena's old best friends, she is the strong one of her friends, and Damon thinks that Meredith is creepy. She helps in discovering what is going on in the town girls.

• Malach: A dark creature made of Power that takes over a tree or person that is controlled by a master. Described as looking like an insect or a squid with rows of Sharp teeth and can fly by rotating its tentacles like a helicopter.
• Kitsune: They are larger than a typical fox w/ several tails, trickers, and shapeshifters from large foxes to human. They are found in Japanese forklore and the number of tails determine how powerful they are.

• Vampirism: Humans that are turned into a creature that lives forever, unless staked, has fangs to feed off blood to live, and have super speed, agility, and strength. Some of them have special powers, and they have excellent hearing. Their main source of life is blood, but some vampires choose to feed off of animal blood instead of people blood, which makes them weaker and doesn't give them as many abilities.
