Cast of Characters/Important People
- Bonnie: The main character in this book. She was one of Elena's best friends. She has psychic abilities.
- Meredith: Bonnie's best friend and was one of Elena's best friends.
- Matt: Elena's ex boyfriend who has been having difficulty coping since Elena's death.
- Caroline: A former friend of Elena's who held a grudge against her and tried to sabotage her when she was alive and is now trying to make friends with Bonnie and Meredith again, now that Elena's dead, to try to make things like it used to be.
- Stefan: Elena's vampire boyfriend who left town after her death to follow his brother Damon and watch over him since he had promised Elena he would when she died.
- Damon: Stefan's older brother who is also a vampire. He left town after Elena died. He denies he is having difficulty getting over Elena but misses her too and has shown some signs of being less violent since his time with her and is annoyed with his brother's company.
- Vickie: A survivor of one of Katherine's attacks she has shown improvement since Katherine's death and is no longer acting as strange as she once was. Bonnie is attempting to become friends with her.
- Sue: A friend of Elena's who stood buy her when others had started ostracizing her and Stefan after the series of mysterious deaths. Caroline is trying to become friends with her to fill Elena's place and because she knows that Bonnie likes her.
- Elena: Her spirit is reaching out to Bonnie from beyond the grave to try to warn her about a new evil that is plagueing the citizens of Fell's Church.
- Tyler: The school bully who hates Stefan.
- Klaus: The vampire who turned Katherine.
- Mrs. Flowers: The weird old woman who owns the boarding house and is Stefan's land lady.
First Sentence
