First off, this diary is not a memoir but actually a work of fiction by a woman named Beatrice Sparks--mormon youth counsellor and "editor" of a number of other teen diaries about teenage sex and satanic rituals.

I was taken in when I read this, probably when I was around 11 or 12...

This book is a cautionary tale about the dangers of drug use based on one girl's actually diary. It includes some fascinating imagery and a plot that twists and turns. The end is nothing like you would expect to happen. Overall Go Ask Alice is a quick read and it is definitely worth reading.

Books in diary form are always much more personal and emotional.

Go Ask Alice is very similar to Crank by Ellen Hopkins in the sense that it has to do with teenage drug abuse, pregnancy and sex. I think that Go Ask Alice is a lot more graphic in the sense that the imagery was dark and gory and that it was a lot more sexual. I think it should be made into a movie, even if there is an absurd amount of sex and drugs. I think that it would be revolutionary in the sense that people will acknowledge that drugs and sex have a negative impact on people at a worldwide scale.I think this book should be read by everyone and this book to me is a revolutionary book.

This was an eye-opening look into a girl's life on drugs. Her personal diary showed us the pain that results from such poor choices and bad company.

I was actually disappointed with the book. I didn't find it all that interesting. I was angry at the ending; she had everything going for her and was turning herself around only to be found mysteriously dead. But the rest of the book wasn't that engrossing to me.
