“Emmy is a very "straight", studious girl with plans for her future. Very quiet and shy, she has a secret crush on Art. Art happens to "discover" Emmy and they fall in love. Protected sex becomes the norm, except for once when they get caught up in the moment. Emmy finds herself alone to make decisions about what to do in her circumstance. The book is written for girls (and boys)today, who find themselves in "love" relationships. Not everything is clear-cut, and the answers you get aren't always the ones you're looking for. Emmy learned that even when someone "loves" you, you can't always depend on them to be by your side no matter what. Detour for Emmy is heartbreaking, but in the end, through hard work and hard circumstances, Emmy finds a way to start accomplishing her dreams.”
