Calm candor and beauty amidst attrocities, Anne Frank’s diary has moved millions around the world, past and present, with it’s honesty, depth, and poignancy. (Personally, it was Anne’s diary that motivated me to write my own journal as a young girl and I continue to write faithfully, ever since. It is one of the few books that I’ve read which has had the greatest influence on my life.) Anne Frank, a young Jewish girl living in Amsterdam, along with her family, went into hiding along with her family during WWII, when Holland was annexed by the Nazis Regime. During the 4 long years of secret captivity in the building’s attic, Anne captured her hopes, loves, fears and thoughts on life in her diary, where she affectionately addressed her entries to an imaginary friend she named “Kitty”.

Despite the horrible reality of war just outside her window, Anne was a person who could see beyond man’s inhumanity to man, and perceive true beauty and the gift of life. Tragically, nearing the war’s conclusion, the family’s hiding place is mercilessly betrayed to the Nazis…which ultimately culminates in the final chapter of this lovely young girl’s life, just prior to liberation. This is a true story…a diary of a young girl….and her voice from the past. It’s a memoir of a brilliant and deep being who wasn’t afraid to hope for something better, beyond the misery surrounding her. In my opinion, it is a book that every person should read.

This book is about a jewish girl named Anne Frank you hid up in someones attic for a very long time. She was hidin from the army so they wouldnt find her and her family. One day the army found Anne and her family and killed her. She was only about my age. She made a big differance though to all jews. She was a brave girl

I'm originally from Holland and lived nearby the Anne Frank House. When I grew up, Anne Frank's Diary was part of a the mandatory books list at highschool. The book is vivid. You can step into the book and feel as if you're witnessing Anne Frank and what she's experiencing. She was a normal girl and went through all the normal emotions for a girl at that age, fell in love in period that is earmarked as horrible. This book should remind us of how we can be mislead by narrow minded person and how we should be more tolerant of any kind of culture and race. What ever race we are, we are first and foremost part of the HUMAN race.

    Enjoy reading this master piece.

I've always wanted to read this book. I don't know why it took me so long but I'm glad I finally did it.

I discovered what a wonderful and talented girl Anne Frank was; yet few people (or maybe none) really knew her until we all read her diary..

I discovered that I asked myself the same questions she did while I was growing up. Questions we all ask on our way to becoming an adult, a mature person and it brought me closer to her.

She had her style, she was unique and yet, if you think about it, just a normal girl. Than you wonder, how come this simple Jewish girl became a hero? What made her special? What did she do otherwise than keeping a diary? The answer? She was herself. She didn't try to save anybody, she didn't try to impress anybody. She just hoped for the best and lived her life the way she thought she should under those circumstances.
The sad thing is that she died for the same reason: she was a simple Jewish girl...

I know there are many, too many stories that remained untold about other Jewish people who suffered during the war (and not only) and who were treated unfairly... All I can say is that when I read this book, I felt like her story covered all the others and everybody's voice was heard..
