“I accidentally read the introduction because I naively assumed that the story began from page one onwards. Apart from that, I liked Goldman's prose and it kind of reminds me how Tim writes! :)”

The book added more and at times was a bit repetitive when you just wanted the action to start but nevertheless an excellent way to pass the time”

First let me say how utterly silly I feel that I actually believed the book was an abridgment, and that it was originally written by “Morgenstern” for what was about three-quarters of the book. Then I got on the Net and realised and felt like the biggest idiot in the world.
Anyway. I enjoyed reading the book and I’m glad I read it, but I didn’t think it was anything extraordinary. I think some of my favourite parts of the book was Goldman’s supposed “commentary”, which I found amusing. I think Buttercup is a huge pain in the ass and Westley a gorgeous but idiotic guy. I know it’s a satire but man. Buttercup got on my nerves. I thought the most interesting characters was the trio of outlaws, especially Vizzini, and everyone hates Prince Humperdinck so we just won’t go there.
This is a haphazard review, but my reading of it was the same. I only read it because of other people and to finally be able to get some references (eg “You killed my father. Prepare to die.”). I won’t ever reread it. It wouldn’t even make the Top 20 list of books I read this year, let alone any other year. Oh, and let me just add, I don’t find Buttercup/Westley romantic IN THE LEAST.
