This is a more difficult read, as it is not constructed fiction, but still very enjoyable.

There isn't much to say after the title, but this made for interesting reading. It is what happened after the Little House series, and told without the fictionalization. It captures an aspect of pioneering which we don't often hear about, those who had to turn back.

In 1975, we made a cross-country trip from Charleston, South Carolina to Idaho, California, and back again. My husband said we could each choose different places to visit on our route. Our oldest daughter chose Mansfield, Missouri. She want to see Laura's home. That was one of the best stops we made. One of the things we saw there was the lap-desk where the money was lost On The Way Home, when poor Rose was blamed for it.

Don't you just love reading other people's diaries? I do. ~grin~ Especially after reading all the Little House series so many times I just wanted more of Laura. This was just what I wanted, and it was in a diary format. This is Laura's diary of her trip from South Dakota to Mansfield, Missouri, in 1894. I also loved how it had pictures in it. A wonderful book.. and a must have part of your Little House books.
