The whole space trilogy was a complete mystery to me. It was all obviously about something ELSE which I never knew.

I loved this book. I love the feeling of reading a series of books where you actually get to know the characters enough that the begin to feel in some ways like friends. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really looked forward to being able to sit down during the day and read, and I felt sad when it did finally come to an end.

Not really my cup of tea. The first few chapters were pretty interesting, but then it got a bit moralistic.

One might want to say "the plot thickens" in 'That Hideous Strength,' the second book in CS Lewis's sci-fi trilogy, but alas, this is not the case. I am left scratching my head, wondering why the plot has actually weakened quite horribly. As the series goes on, you find that although the story had some potential in "Out of the Silent Planet," it just goes on into a growing attempt to convert us all to Christianity.

This is the last of Lewis' "Space Trilogy" and the first time I realized that as Lewis says, "whoever controls the media, controls the minds of the people." Creeped me out 20 years ago and DEFINITELY proves sustainingly creep-worthy today!

I just finished reading That Hideous Strength a few days ago and have hardly been able to stop thinking about it. I'm not sure that I liked it, although there were sections of the text that caused me to see myself and my purpose in this world in a truer light. These explications were not perhaps new to me, but through them the Lord pushed me to illumine through further reflection the opacity with which I tend to veil what is truly REAL. I would like to know what others of you who have read it think, I feel a bit overwhelmed, and I have to add somewhat disgusted. It really is a remarkable book, I'm just not exactly sure what to say.
