“Little Anne and Big Dan [3”
“Come back puppy”
“Summary: This story is about a boy who really wants two coondogs but his family is unable to buy them. After saving money for a long time he is able to purchase them and has to travel to town and pick them up. He faces a few mishaps on his trip getting them and creates a quick bond with each dog. Right away the boy starts training the dogs to catch raccoons. The story talks about the boys life while hunting with his new dogs. Eventually both dogs die and when he looks at where they are buried he sees a red fern growing that puts him at ease.Reason Chosen: I chose this book because my mom read it to me all the time when I was a little girl. I loved hearing this story and would request it on a regular basis. This story can relate to so many people and can touch everyone inside. It is definitely a tear jerker but that is because it does such an awesome job of getting the reader and their emotions brought into the story.Use in Classroom: I think this book would be used as a read aloud. I feel as long as the teacher is sure that they are able to finish the book without tearing up every time then it would be great. Students would love to hear the story of the boy with his dogs and how they grow to be great coon hunters. ”
