• Renata: "Rennie" - Order elder; Nikolai's Breedmate; Mira's adoptive mother; She's a trained warrior who has the ability to temporarily immobilize any Breed using her mind but suffers terrible migraines afterwards; She has chin-length ebony hair and jade-green eyes.
• Lazaro Archer: Kellan's grandfather. One of the few remaining Gen Ones in the Breed population and now leader of the Order's command center in Italy. He's nearly 1,000 years old but doesn't look a day over 30 and is the only surviving member of his family other than Kellan. He is six foot five and formidable, looks like a warrior and has jet hair and midnight blue eyes.
• Dante: Order elder who heads the Order's Seattle operations; Tess' mate; Rafe's father; Chase's closest friend; Has dark hair and whiskey-colored eyes.
• Tess Culver: Dante's Breedmate; Rafe's mother; Has the ability to heal with just a touch; Was a veterinarian; Has long, honey-blonde curls and aquamarine eyes

• Brock: Order elder; Jenna's mate; He was Corinne's childhood bodyguard; Has the ability to absorb human pain and discomfort; An immense warrior; He's dark-skinned with black hair and dark-brown eyes.

• First Dawn: The day after humans learned of vampires existence when Dragos unleashed the Rogues around the world.
• Breed: Vampires descended from 8 alien humanoids who crash landed on earth thousands of years ago.
• Breedmate: Women who are born with unique DNA and blood properties that make them capable of sharing a life bond with members of the Breed and bearing their young. They can be identified by a scarlet teardrop falling into the cradle of a crescent moon shaped birthmark somewhere on their body. Every Breedmate has some kind of unique ESP talent or ability and personal blood scent that makes her unique from any other.
• Rogue: Savage blood-addicted vampires
• Darkhaven: An estate where several Breed families live together in a community
• Dermaglyphs: A running pattern of symbols--arcing flourishes and complex geometric shapes that somewhat resemble tribal tattoos that cover a Breed's body; the stronger the bloodline the more glyphs there are- the Ancients were covered from head to toe.
