After returning from World War II, a young man realizes that he and his wife, whom he had left behind, had very little in common. Disillusioned, he heads up north where he intends to work as a traveling salesman.     I haven't read this book but I've seen the movie. The movie was brilliant and I'm sure this book will be superb too. As the movie doesn't have time to show everything but the book has all the time and beautiful words to accompany. I'll find it and read it.
