A great travelogue about a single professional woman who takes a years sabatical to travel Paris, London, Oxford and Rome. I hated the Eat, Pray book, but really enjoyed this. A lot like Under the Tuscan Sun

It had some good observations about how to stay young (while growing older) and how not to get stuck in your same old routine. It was a bit affected at times (or appeared that way). Also while the person narrating talks about all the challenges to overcome in middle age, the main one seems to be emotional or spiritual with her. Money seems certainly to not be an object.

Reads like your sister wrote it to you - and like you could have written it.

I love books where the characters bolt against the norms! Boldly changing her/his lives drastically. This is just that kind. I enjoyed the read and found it inspiring.

I preferred Tales of a Female Nomad but this is pretty good.

A very interesting book - part travelogue, part self-discovery.

I read this book on a plane to England. I loved her adventures. I actually saw some of the places that she referenced in London and Paris. Looking forward to Educating Alice...another journal of her travels. The book makes you feel like her traveling companion.

Alice takes a leave from her job at the Baltimore Sun to find out who she is and what she wants to do with her life. She travels to Paris, London, Oxford, and Italy meeting many interesting people, especially Naohiro. It is a travel journal that makes you want to visit where she has gone and want to know what happened between her and Naohiro.

Enjoyed it.....was sent to me by a friend who had just done some solo traveling. Now I can't remember the specifics, but it did hold my interest.
