“ I wasn't terribly surprised with how I liked this book. I had a fairly decent idea how I would feel about this book. The last few book in the series have missed the mark, this being no exception. I think Harris had to stretch to come up with this book. The ending was quite predictable, with many people calling who Sookie would end up with ultimately, and the tired plot line of 'Who's out to kill Sookie' made it's final return in the series finale. I do have to say for Harris, with multiple enemies gunning for Sookie, she did seem to up the quota of those seeking to put Sookie into the ground. Permanently.
I'm one of those that is glad this series has come to an end. I have felt that everything after the book, From Dead to Worse, the series has taken a nose dive. While I had hoped to like this book a lot better than I did, I also knew to not set my expectations far from the ground.
Harris did try to give everyone's favorite characters a bit of a cameo and maybe, just maybe, a hint of their own happy ending. Which was fine. But it was what it was. Filler. Just fluff to stuff. As for the rest of the tired, overused story, it was well enough to give Sookie her last book. No fireworks, no amazing feats, no miraculous events, no twists, no turn. Just a simple farewell to a series that has long outlived it's creative juices. I bid thee a fond farewell, good day, best wishes and here's to a long life of peace and quiet for our dear Sookie.”

“This is the very last book in the Sookie Stackhouse: Southern Vampire Mysteries series. And I'm sad! I tried to prolong finishing it so it would be over for me. But I couldn't help but devour it! I was disappointed with how things with Eric ended. Because he is my favourite vampire. But I understand! I loved the series. I wouldn't say it is a genre that I thought I would enjoy but I did. It was entertaining and interesting. ”Chelsea Hannah H wrote this review Tuesday, November 5, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Not the ending I was hoping for, but not bad as the series end. ”*Starry* wrote this review Saturday, October 19, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“The last installment in the Sookie Stackhouse series. Someone made a deal with the devil, and everyone Sookie has crossed is out to get her. Will she survive?”Alyssa C wrote this review Saturday, October 12, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“While I'm sad to see this series come to an end, I enjoyed the final Sookie Stackhouse book, and am satisfied with how things turned out for Sookie. It did have a different feel from the start though, when the first scene starts with 2 villains meeting a devil, and is told from their point of view. Lots of favorite characters appear in this last book, but not all make an appearance. Sookie is arrested for murder, and Mr. C and his niece, along with Amelia and Bob rush to her defense. Eric and Sookie reach a final decision about their relationship, and Sam recovers from being dead briefly at the end of the last book and makes a life changing decision. This is definitely one of my favorite series, and I will miss anticipating the next part of Sookie's story, but will return to the series from time to time for it's great humor and to read again about the amazing world of supernatural beings created by the author. ”Beth H wrote this review Wednesday, October 9, 2013. “Better than I thought it would be. I had a bit of a time getting into it. I think because this book has more viewpoints to it. I am use to Sookie. What worked really well for me was that the author seemed to go back to her earlier story. The characters were more like the people I knew and loved or hated. I disliked the feeling I got towards the end that Ms Harris was trying too hard to wrap up the story while leaving enough open for another book. After all this was suppose to be the final book but we were fooled. I am not so certain Sookie ended up with anyone. I do think the ending was a typical Sookie man action with a lesson learned aspect. I missed Pam. She is my favorite, (and I totally would be psyched with a Pam spin off), and was just not in this book enough. I wasn't as satisfied with the ending as I would have been if this were the final book, but I am giving it 4 stars. It is more in line with the first books.”Frances Cristina Gutierrez wrote this review Tuesday, October 1, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
