  • Ethan Chase: When he was a child, Ethan was kidnapped and taken to a faerie realm for bait, but his sister, Meghan, saved him. Now, his sister is the Iron Queen in the very faerie world he was kidnapped into, called Nevernever. When a change of events leaves the people he cares about in danger, he must venture into Nevernever to save them-- before it's too late.
  • MacKenzie St. James: A reporter at Ethan's new school. Travels with Ethan on his journey. An outgoing, not-at-all shy kind of girl. Goes by Kenzie.
  • Prince Keirran: Son of Meghan and Ash.
  • Meghan Chase: Meghan saved her brother, Ethan, from Nevernever when he was a child and was kidnapped by the former King of Iron. They don't see much of each other since she went into the realm of the fey, but she's still a sister and even though she's the Iron Queen, Ethan still thinks about her choices and how they affected her life. Ethan resents Meghan.
  • Puck: Puck's alias in the human realm is Robbie Goodfell, but he's known to the general public as Robin Goodfellow from the stories by Shakespeare. He is Meghan Chase's friend.
  • Ash: Ash is Meghan Chase's consort and love. Ash was the Winter Prince, one of Mab's sons, who was disowned as he fell in love with Meghan. Ash is the only of the regular fey who is able to live in the Iron Kingdom, having acquired a soul to be with Meghan.
  • Guro Javier: Ethan's Kali instructor, believes in things that may not be of our world.
  • Todd Wyndham: A half-breed at Ethan's new school, whom Ethan ends up helping despite his misgivings.
  • Brian Kingston: The quarterback of Ethan's new school, a bully
  • Glitch: The First Lieutenant to the Iron Queen.
  • Grimalkin: A cait sith, is amused by humans. He helps to guide Ethan on his journey.

  • Luke: Ethan's dad, Megan's stepdad.
  • Leanansidhe: Exile queen
  • Thomas: A troll that Ethan, Kenzie, Anwynn, and Kierran find in Central Park
  • Robin Goodfellow: Also known as puck. He is part of the summer court, and is a huge trouble maker. He went with Ash on his journey to get a soul.
  • Mab: Queen of the winter court. Ash's mom.
  • Annwyl: Was a summer fey on an exile, love interest of Keirran.
  • Dad: Ethan's father. Meghan's stepfather. Does not have the Sight and is protective of Ethan. Works nights in the city, but used to be a pig farmer in the bayou.
