“Low whistle. Ok, well- I would classify this under Mature Teen reader. Haven't had too many teen romance novels that take it to this level, imply, and do so much. Change the characters on the front to a typical Fabio Romance cover and you might not notice the difference.
I liked Eva and wanted her to have a good life after her grief and painful situation. Cage's character (or voice really) was really a bit too corny and didn't fit a 21-22 year old.
Between a 3 and 2 stars. ”

“While It Lasts lacked something in character development. The story of Cage and Eva felt a little lightweight and lacking in substance.
I'm not sure why this book just didn't gel for me. Eva was likable and Cage was, too. But I guess the insta-lust and the lack of a real conflict made me ambivalent while reading this.
Here's another thing: the title (While It Lasts) sounds so temporary. I think I had the same problem with Just For Now. There was a definite lack of forever and just "in the moment" for that title too.
I know this author gets mega 5 star reviews, but I just haven't clicked with the characters in her books or the story line. Although the story of Just For Now and The Vincent Boys seemed to have more substance than any of her titles.
After having tried four different books, I think I can safely say Abbi Glines' books just aren't for me.”
“Part 3 So Cage is a playboy. We first meet him in Because of Low (Low being Willow his best friend). Cage only cares about Low, baseball, and what girl tonight. When Cage gets in trouble for DUI, his coach gets him off but to work on his brothers farm where Cage meets Eva. Eva has been in love with one boy her neighbor Josh they were engaged before he left for the military and did not come home. Now Eva judges her life by what would Josh think and to never love again. So when she is attracted to Cage she is so lost on what to do.”Jennifer G wrote this review Wednesday, October 17, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“Let me warn you in advance, I am a huge Abbi Glines fan, so when talking about her books, I tend to go all fan girl....just saying. While it Lasts.....OMG........Cage York......speechless. All I can say is prepare to stick your face, better yet your whole body in the freezer. He is so HOT! I love all of Abbi's books, but I completely and totally fell in love with Beau Vincent in the Vincent Boys...sigh....I mean Beau Vincent is totally to die for. He's the bad boy that is every girl's dream. Then Sawyer Vincent came in a close second in The Vincent Brothers. When I first met Cage in Because of Low, I wasn't overly impressed. After all, he was a man-whore. What did impress me was the way he looked out for Low. In While it Lasts, we get to see another side of Cage, and boy is it good. Now I am completely in love with Cage. I mean he's just like candy...candy for your eyes, and candy you want to just devour. Granted, I'm still completely in love with Beau, and I got this thing for Sawyer to, so what does that make me? I guess I'm a bit of ho to now, at least a book boyfriend ho. Forgive me guys, but I just want you all. Abbi's boys just tend to rock your world.
While it Lasts isn't just about hot sexy Cage York, it has some very deep moments. In the beginning, when we first meet Eva, I found myself crying my eyes out. Eva is absolutely precious and I'm so glad she's the one that finally got Cage. She has suffered such great loss and has been through so much, but she's also very tough and doesn't take any crap either, especially from Cage. Cage is kind of blown away by Eva, first when he sees her and how beautiful she is, then again when she puts him in his place and refuses him. That doesn't happen to often to Cage. Not to mention the fact that her dad, Wilson Brooks, has specifically told Cage that Eva is off limits. With his scholarship and future on the line, that makes things even harder. So he sucks it up, stays in his little room in the barn, and takes on the cows and farm life. Try as she may, Eva just can't help but be attracted to Cage. I mean she's only human, right. They end up growing closer, but Eva isn't ready for Cage to know her secret. She doesn't want him treating her differently or feeling sorry for her. Little does she know that Cage already knows, he's just waiting for her to tell him when she is ready. All he wants is to be there for her. Her heart melts when she finds out that he's known all along and yet treated her just like any other person. The side we see of Cage with Eva is absolutely amazing. He is so caring and sweet, still very hot and sexy mind you, but protective and loving at the same time. Not to say they didn't have their struggles, because they did, especially when they came face-to-face with the issues and people from their pasts. When Wilson Brooks gets wind of what's going on, he kicks Cage off the farm, and Cage has to decide, with a little encouragement from Low, if he's going to stand up and fight for what he wants and loves.
I think this book is by far is the most steamy, hot, and sexy book Abbi has written, not that her others weren't, because they totally are, but While it Lasts takes it to a whole new level. Just thinking about it makes me go need open the freezer again. I loved the way the relationship developed between Cage and Eva also. I really hope they get a sequel. I would love to read more about them. I loved the farm setting and the way the story came together. Abbi is such a gifted and talented writer and she makes you really feel like her story and her characters are real. I mean it wouldn't surprise me a bit to actually find she has a Cage York hidden somewhere....sigh.....smile. While it Lasts so exceeded my expectations, but then again, I don't think Abbi is capable of anything less than outstanding. She knows how to write a love story, and she knows how to create a hot guy that is completely swoon worthy. If you love a contemporary romance, hot sexy guys, steamy love scenes, and and overall great story, then While it Lasts is one book that you will want to read, and then read again. Please be aware that this is a "New Adult" book and contains scenes which are not appropriate for younger readers.
Favorite Quotes from While it Lasts:
“You see somethin' ya want, baby?"
"Maybe. I'm checking things out. Seeing if I'm interested," I shot back with my own evil grin.
"I see something I want," he drawled as he came toward me.
"Hell yeah, I do," he murmured. "I love chocolate." What? My excitement turned to confusion. His arm reached out beside me and took the piece of chocolate cake I'd brought him.”
“I'm worried that this is too soon. What if you get tired of having me around all the time? What if I eat your Wheaties or leave my makeup out in the bathroom or what if I snore?"
"I don't eat Wheaties, I hope you leave all your girlie shit laying all over the place so I can see it when you're not there and know you're coming back. And you don't snore. You do this soft purring thing that is so fucking cute I just want to lay awake and listen to you.”
The naughty girl inside me, that I honestly didn't know existed, bent my head down and looked up at him through my lashes as I flicked it with my tongue.
"Ah, shit," he whispered but it almost sounded like a moan.
Encouraged by his response I flattened my tongue and ran it up and over his hard nipple.
“I was taking the bad boy off the market for good.”
“When I learned that While It Lasts is already available for download a day early, I immediately grabbed a copy! I waited so long for this book and I won't pass an opportunity to read it as soon as it hit the market. I didn't know how good it will be but as high as my expectation was, it absolutely lived up to that. While It Lasts is one of those books that you can't seem to get enough of. It was as good as Abbi Glines other novels, which reminds me why I love her writing. And even though Because of Low is still my most favorite of all her novels, While It Lasts definitely comes next.
Eva Brooks couldn't let go of her dead fiance. She still wears that ring that Josh gave her before he was killed in Baghdad. She never thought that Cage's arrival at their farmhouse will be her way to heal and to love again. But she's confused whether she's ready to give up everything--including Josh--and let herself fall for Cage. He was an absolute opposite of Josh. Josh who was always good, a guy that you can easily and proudly introduce to your parents and family. Cage was different, but she knows that there is something about him than his hot body and pretty face. There is so much more about Cage.
Cage was free and wild. He was like a beautiful bird you could never own. - Eva
Cage York, the bad and the naughty guy who bang almost every available girl that runs into him, now finds his perfect girl--Eva Brooks. It wasn't love at first sight for Eva, but it was definitely something for Cage. And though as he admits that panties is in his priority list when it comes to girls, Cage couldn't deny the fact that he's starting to break for this girl, and maybe...finally…he's falling in love.
I don't think that words will be enough to convey my feelings about this book. Reading Cage's story and seeing his thoughts made me love him even more. He'd been through a difficult childhood and his life has never been easy. When I finally see the real Cage, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. It was heartbreaking to see how he really feels. He thinks that he doesn't deserve to be loved, he doesn't even think he has a soul. He's broken and he tries to deal with things in his own terms…until he met Eva Brooks, who happens to be someone he couldn't possibly have.
There are lines in the book that nearly broke my heart. Because as much as these two amazing and witty people made me smile (often) and grin (wider), they made my heart melt and break most of the times. I think that these two will always fit each other perfectly no matter how you put them together. I also loved how the story made me love Low even more, made me want more Marcus (please Abbi), and made me excited for whatever Abbi has in store for us. I find myself looking back to one of my most deeply-loved memories with this series while given a glimpse of something more to come in the future. I don't think I could ever get enough of Sea Breeze.
I dropped my head to my hands. Why had I let myself care?
I wasn't the keeping kind. I'd learned at a young age that women didn't keep me. When a guy's momma don't want him, why… should anyone else?
I'd learned at an early age that self-preservation was the only way to survive with your soul intact.
Or maybe I'd lost my soul already. I doubted God let someone like me to keep any gift from him. It was likely I'd been born without one. - Cage

I'd only known how it felt to love someone who loved me just as fiercely... I'd never wanted someone who didn't want me. The longing didn't go away with rejection. - Eva
One boy who thinks bad about himself and who doesn't think he can actually love and care deeply for a girl, and a girl who doesn't expect to be healed by a boy and be given a second chance in love…in life. These two amazing characters will make your knees wobble with anticipation. You'll love them, you'll feel for them, you might even break your heart for them.
If you loved the Cage York in Because of Low, you'll absolutely love him even more in this book! The humor and the funny moments in this book compensates the emotional aspect of the story, thus making this a very satisfying and delicious read. It's perfect for summer, it's perfect for any weather!
This book, just as the rest of the Sea Breeze series is highly engrossing and very entertaining. I read it in one day! I totally loved it. I recommend While It Lasts. I recommend Sea Breeze Series. I recommend Abbi Glines!”
