• Tyler Miller: A teenage boy considered by many to be a juvenile delinquent. Going through rough times at home. Served probation during the summer for vandalizing the school . Competing for the heart of Bethany Milbury. EM
• Bethany Milbury: Alpha Female of George Washington High. Beautiful, popular, queen bee. Daughter of Tyler's father's boss, Sister of Tyler's enemy,and Tyler's crush.
• Hannah Miller: Little sister of Tyler. Freshman in high school and is too excited for High school.
• Calvin Hodges (a.k.a Yoda): Best friend of Tyler.
• Chip Milbury: Bethany's twin brother, four-year lacrosse starter,bullies Tyler.I think Chip is the biggest a**-hole in the whole wide world.
• Thomas Dexter: A Sophomore, with a face full of zit scars, he is one of Chip's cronies. Helps beat up Tyler because he is competition for Bethany Milbury. EM; Bethany also has a thing for him

• Mr. Benson: Mr. Benson is a nice man at heart. He lost sight of what is really important in life when his family's economic status started down hill. He yells at his wife, son and daughter when they are not perfect. Tyler gets sick of his attitude towards his mother and knocks him back into the correct mind frame that he was once in.
• Linda Miller: Tyler's somewhat overworked mother who earns a living by photographing dogs.
• Bryce Milbury: Tyler's father's boss who also happens to be the father of Chip and Bethany Milbury.
• Joe: Joe is a tough guy by appearance. Tyler knows he is someone to look up to and trust. Working together over the summer Joe and Tyler became friends. The predicament Tyler got himself into with his probation and what not was difficult to understand but Joe tried anyway. EM
• Gormley: A video game character created and named by Tyler. Tyler's outlet of anger as he outs Gormley through levels of hell in his video game. EM

This books talks about sex, drugs/alcohol, family problems, violence, and a lot about suicide and depression. It also contains crude language. There is even a note at the beginning saying that this book is not for children. However, it's nothing that most young adults haven't faced before, and the way Tyler, the protagonist, deals with these issues and grows from facing them gives a good message to readers.
