What are your recommendations like the Casual Vacancy?
Any opinions on this book? I started reading it but it was so bad I couldn't get myself to finish it.
The first hundred pages dragged on soooo long for me. I gave up and put it down. I picked it up again about a month later and I have to say that the second half is much, much better than the first. Nobody does anything in the first half! But once the characters started interacting with each other instead of just talking about each other, it was a lot more fun to read.
I have about 20 more pages to go and I am done reading the book. At first it was really really slow for me, but because I liked the way J K Rowling writes, I read on. It had got interesting to me when the I start reading what is really going on with the Weedons. J K Rowling had grasps what is going on in the modern world. It is a book for adults because of adult languages and theme. I do have trouble with European jargons. You just need to read on and the story will unfold. All in all I like it.
I tried - but this book was beyond me. The ugliness just about did me in. I wish I had stopped listening sooner. I am going to have nightmares.
So... How many Harry Potter fans were disappointed with this book?
I don't think that's a fair basis. She's entering an entirely different realm, both in subject matter and overall intended audience. I am a die-hard Potter fan, but I had to be sure to leave my preconceived notions and expectations behind me when embarking on the new journey J.K Rowling intended. If you read everything she writes from this point on through the lens of Harry Potter, you will most likely be continuously disappointed my friend.
I didn't even consider Harry when I started to read this book.
