There are many great things that the author must be applauded for but there are some other things to make it better.
The setting of this book is very developed as they provide details and respond to things as if it was the literal time period and location. For example, the government of Great Britain was unwilling to give funds for the pursuit of the criminal and had to wait for the Americans to fund it. However, the characters of the book aren't very pleasant as there is hardly any background information beforehand which could have made the book travel more smoothly. Some background information regarding the Holmes family would have made the book more understandable. This book has an educational plot when regarding the lifestyle of the olden times but still is able to maintain the interest of readers. Characters of the book included information regarding ways of travel, system of government and authority. As boring as it may seem, it still grasps the reader's attention and serves as a great entertainment.
