I enjoyed it a bit more than the first book. This has Amelia trying to prevent an arranged marriage between her friend Prudence and a Scottish Earl, Malcolm. Only to end up married to Malcolm when they were caught kissing at the library. Malcolm was attracted to Amelia and in need of a wife who can be a good political hostess. Amelia is attracted to Malcolm but doesn't want to give up her independence and her writing career. These two people are well matched and are more aggreeable than I expected. Thus my main quibble is that there really isn't much of a conflict in their relationship. I look forward to her next book.”

See, “Heiress Without a Cause”. What a delightful second book. Lady Amelia Staunton is determined to save her friend from a marriage of convenience, but finds herself caught in a compromising position and must marry the powerful autocrat, the Earl of Carnach,Malcolm MacCabe herself. The Earl of Carnach, finds he is attracted to Lady Amelia and not her friend Prudence, who he was supposed to become betrothed to. So when they are caught in a compromising position,he must do the honorable thing and marry Lady Amelia. While, obedience is not one of Amelia’s virtues, she soon learns that passion can not be denied. Malcolm, doesn’t want a mistress he wants an obedient wife. What he gets is a passionate, disobedient, seductive, witty wife who is given her heart away and may lose everything, when her secret is revealed. Amelia’s secret could destroy them or bring them both happiness and peace they never dreamed they could find in each other’s arms. The same friend Amelia tried to save, may have become her worst enemy and will destroy Amelia’s and Malcolm’s happiness by revealing Amelia’s secret. A fast paced, story of love, romance, passion, desires, secrets and seduction that could bind them together forever.Another historical romance love story between a Scottish Highlander and his Lady with a twist. “Scotsmen Prefer Blondes” will not disappoint you in any way. A must read. I enjoy this author’s stories so far and would highly recommend it especially if you enjoy historical romance with a bit of a twist. Received for an honest review from the publisher. I just loved the second book in Ms. Ramsey’s Muses of Mayfair Series. In this lovely story, Scotsman Prefer Blondes, we find Amelia falling in love. This time the story takes us out of England and into Scotland where dreams can come true in those musty old castles.
Malcolm meets Prue and takes her to dinner only to find that he is drawn to her friend Amelia. Amelia seeing that Prue is really scared and needs help decides to meddle in her affairs only to find herself compromised by kissing Malcolm and being forced to marry him. Secretly Prue is thankful but is also, mad that Amelia once again meddled in her friends affairs only to cause problems. Prue thought this to be her only way to escape her mother.
As we move on in the story I couldn’t help but fall in love with Malcolm and Amelia. Where they find that sexually they are quite compatible there are always those secrets that seem to throw a wrench into every beginning of a good relationship.
Moving to London to take his place in Parliament in hopes of helping his clan Malcolm is faced with Amelia’s past. That of a writer, in disguise, yet not just any writer but one that dared to wrote a book that tells all about the antics of the ton. Amelia is able to somewhat repair the damage in the relationship with her friend Prue and move on with Malcolm. But telling you anymore would be giving away the best of this story.
Having read Ms. Ramsey’s first book Heiress without a Cause, I couldn’t wait for Scotsman Prefer Blondes to come out. I thoroughly enjoyed the first and was not disappointed by the second. Is it okay to say that I enjoyed this charming book more so than the first? I loved the characters and the way she weaves the magic of strong women and the friendships of those women into her books.
I think that every true romantic will enjoy Scotsman Prefer Blondes and know that no matter how old you are there is still someone out there for everyone. Sometimes you just have to wait longer than others.
