The story is told by a character named Snowman who is living in post-apocalyptic Canada (I believe) and he recounts the events that lead up to the devastation that he...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“Id only read one of Margaret Atwood other books which was the handmaids tale. This could not be more different and is set in a future which large parts seem very plausible. I liked the way the story was set out and wanted to keep reading because I wanted to know how the snowman had gotten into the position he was in. I did think Oryx was a bit pointless and thought she would have a much more major role but enjoyed reading this version of the future.”

Interesting take on how messed up humans are and what one man did to correct what he thought was wrong w/ human nature...A lot seems to center on sexual desire and how much bad behavior that causes....Would you want to be a Craker or not......Abrupt ending, and not definitive, so that is kind of a drag.....”

It echoes truths that I see in those my age and younger (such as how the internet is becoming the new internet; and how desensitized we're becoming to bizarre, sexual, and violent behavior.) It's a believable foreseeable future. A mystery, science fiction, romance novel that will make you feel smarter just having read it. ”
