At age 17, Enoch has finally been brought back together with Naomi and Sariah. They have been raised separately from each other since their early childhood in order to hide them from the bloodthirsty hands of King Tolucan. They were even given human names to hide their elven ancestry. But the question is: why?
Raised by a rebel movement known as the Encampment of Peace, the three have no idea who they are, what happened to their people, or anything at all about what happened in the past, but all of that is about to change as the flags of the king's personal garrison appear on the horizon.
Soon their entire world will be turned upside-down as the truth about their past is revealed and they learn who they really are. They'll learn the truth about the war, their people, their parents, the dragons of human myth, the difference between true power and sorcery, and much, much more.

  • Enoch (aka Zarrys II): He is the 17-year-old protagonist of the book. He is one of three elves who remain after the slaughters of the great war. He was raised separately from the other survivors until he was twelve. On his left shoulder, he carries a birthmark shaped like a three-pointed crown with a crescent over top. These aspects of character, he discovers, he must change in order to become what he was born to be.

Setting & Locations edit see section history

This part of the Kingdom Chronicles takes place in a world all its own during a period very late medieval. The weather is a season of failing winter and breaking spring. The continent is at war; King Tolucan, monarch of the largest human kingdom in the land, has marshaled war against every country around. Ten years ago, he destroyed the race and nation to his north, a race nicknamed Elves, and then set to work overthrowing every other kingdom. A small rebel movement is seeking to overthrow him from the inside while hiding high in the mountains near the borders to the elven land. The story of the Kingdom and the Crown begins in their little camp and then traverses up into the fallen land of the elves.
  • Zulacon Mountains: A vast range of peaks which stretch across the continent and stand as the natural barrier between the elves on the north and the humans on the south. Much of the story takes place in the midst of the mountains.
  • Kokanan (aka the northern kingdom): Formerly an expansive tundra that includes all of the land north of the Zulacon Mountains. It was sold to the elves as a refuge land when they arrived as sailing refugees over two-thousand years ago.
  • Firebird Canyon (aka Firebird Pass): Formerly a common route for passage through the Zulacon Mountains, Firebird Canyon was partially destroyed and now ends in a two-hundred-foot cliff overlooking the two sister outpost cities.
  • Yerhan: It is the eastern outpost city at the end of Firebird Canyon in the valley of the same name. At one point, it was a major, thriving city; it is now a corroding ruin. Axsem lives just south of Yerhan in between it and its sister city.
  • Mount Dyomyn: Anciently, it was a sacred mountain crowned with a temple to mark it as the birth place of the first dragons. Now the volcano appears very much dormant with a lake across its summit and a waterfall down its southern side. At its base, the valley of Dyomyn is the only elven garden left in Kokanan.
  • Zylonus: Until it was overrun and burned during the war, Zylonus served as the capital city for the northern kingdom. The city was flash-burned during its last battle with such intense heat that it instantly turned the entire city to hardened ash and withered the surrounding valley. Later, the city was entire destroyed by volcanic activity.
  • Mount Ryel: Mount Ryel is the most sacred mountain in Kokanan. It is an enormous volcano with a wide vent in its side that takes one inside the mountain to the Temple of the Crown, a special temple for the the elven kings' worship their God.
