Harry G. Frankfurt's short treatise On Bullshit compares the nature of lies - particularly relevant due to the high levels of both being perpetrated by the the GW Bush administration against the American people of late. ”

Frankfurt's writing and admired his attempt at omitting all the bullshit in his essay, even though he admits, that even in his sincere attempt, his essay is most likely just bullshit too.
His most salient point is noting that bullshitters and liars are not one and the same. The liars respect the truth, whereas bullshitters don't often have a concern for the truth, they only care about how they appear to others and will therefore shit out whatever they can to engage those who are willing to listen.
It's almost a trait of either the insecure and the bold and ignorant.
As a person involved in the industry he mentioned to be the most deep in bullshit (advertising and marketing), I definitely recognized the bullshit in myself and will aim to think before just warming up the air with my vapor to appease those I talk with.
This review is probably bullshit too.”
“It's a nice and short read that raises the type of questions that benefit society when we (or at least some of us) spend the time and energy to answer them.
This book is a good icebreaker for the discussion about how we need to practice more critical thinking and skeptical reasoning.”
“Glamorizes my favorite passtime by adding the veneer of philosophical discourse to the definition of bullshit. I have, thus far, found references to Wittgenstein and to the OED most amusing. ”

Yes | No“This slim, plainspoken volume goes into many philosophical aspects of bullshit, humbug and lying as a function of human communication. While not at all comprehensive, it is thorough in its argument and supplies many supporting instances from literature, poetry and philosophy. Once you get over the initial shock of “bullshit” being every fourth word, the going is easy and smooth, and the philosophy is communicated with the common person in mind. ”
