This is not the gay frivolity and biting wit of "Pride and Prejudice", but it is rich and complex in characters, plotting, and loads of moral dilemmas. While Fanny...” see full review » see other reviews » |

I must say that I did like the end, but Mansfield Park is my least...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“The most underrated and least sanguine of Austen's novels, and the most worthy of further study. While the protagonist Fanny lacks the charm and sparkle of Emma, or Elizabeth Bennett, she is a stark illustration of the lack of options available to regency women who lacked a family fortune.”

Jane Austen does a great job of describing simple human emotions of love, jealousy, pride, etc which any person feels in different situations. It makes me wonder that human race even though has progressed cannot control such emotions. Implications of such human emotions in earlier restrained environment were extreme like we see in today's world. ”

It was slightly darker than the others and the young people in it actually act like young people when left to their own devices for a while when Fannies uncle leaves on business.
I also love the fact that although Fannie ends up with the 'right' man people are still divided about whether thats a good thing, basically are you 'team Henry' or 'team Edmund' Me? I think she would have had about 5 years with Henry before he left her but would have had far more excitment in those 5 years than 25 years with Edmund.

“I loved this book. I agree with Dom, the only problem is her name, fannie....UGH! I tried to train myself to read it Fay instead, unsuccessfully. I think I've loaned my copy out, but I can't remember to who!”
