Fitz (Fitzgerald) is an ordinary 15 year old boy. He has decent grades, is well rounded, an aspiring muscisan, and has a loving single parent mom. But Fitz is missing one thing, the thing he has always dreamed of … that wonderful dad. Fitz has never met his dad and his mom, Annie, diverts any time spent on the topic. All he knows is that his dad sends child support money, which his mom tries to hide, and has made no attempt at contacting him so far. As each year goes on, his hope turns to anger and lack of knowledge of who his dad is becomes unbearable.
Fitz’s questions only seem logical, “What happened with my dad and my mom” and “Why did he never try to see me?”

What Fitz’s mom doesn’t know is that Fitz knows who his dad is and knows exactly how he is going to get his attention … by buying a gun and using it to kidnap his dad! After he threatens and spends time with his dad, Curtis, Fitz has many questions and lulls from the action he had at the beginning. Fitz didn't really think everything through, but he still has hope for a future with his dad. All the while, Fitz tries to piece together the events that led to his existence.
