The K'Barthan Trilogy is written in British English and contains a little light swearing. Whether or not you would like your child to read it rather depends on you, not to mention the child. I know 11 year olds who have read and thoroughly enjoyed it and others who might find it a little scary. If we gave books cinema ratings - which would be the sensible thing to do - I would rate it a PG.
