“ To be honest I was skeptical on how the story starts and Logan Riske is undercover and he is planning on using a woman to get the guy he wants to bust. Logan lays on the charm and you know from her description that she shouldn't be garnering his attention. He keeps up his seduction and it's kind of strange how it goes about, but Sue (who is really Pepper in disguise) turns the tables on Logan. He thinks he's using her but he's the one that feels used. Logan has no idea what Pepper is hiding under her frumpy look, and he finds her shy act irresistible. Now he can't think of nothing but her. Then we have all the subterfuge with who is the bad cop and who can they trust. Always a good story line and you know there will be a story with Reese and Alice and Rowdy will be pursuing Avery. Can't wait to read them.”bookluvr wrote this review Monday, November 4, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I enjoyed this book and have started the 2nd book. I love how she ties them together. Each of the characters have a part in the 2nd book, just as they did in the first. The first focused on Logan and Pepper and the 2nd Reece and Alice, but they are all still involved. Lori Foster even found a way to tie in Rowdy.”booksandmorebooks wrote this review Thursday, September 12, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I don't think I have read a book of Lori Fosters that has disappointed me. She is always great. Fast paced action/romance. Characters are interesting and fun. Even a few chuckles along the way. I am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series! ”Mya B wrote this review Sunday, September 8, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“ This one was a little slow in the beginning but picked up pretty quickly. Detective Logan Riske is undercover and has Pepper Yates in his sights. What he didn't plan on was the overwhelming way she made him feel.
Pepper and her brother Rowdy have been on the run and hiding most of their lives. Now with a crime boss hunting them for crimes Pepper witnessed it is up to Logan to get the information he needs from them.
I thought this was a fast paced and very hot read. This is a new to me author and I am looking forward to trying out more reads from her.
Favourite things about this book --- The name Pepper. I loved it. And at the end Logan mentioned the only risk he wants Pepper to take in the future is his last name.”
“A compelling story! I can’t wait to get the next book in this series!”Lisa M wrote this review Sunday, February 17, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Good book. It started out a bit slow for me, as the previous series books seemed to jump right into the action. Pepper is hiding out as manager of an apartment building, trying to stay safe from the man who wants her dead. She has disguised her looks and mannerisms and is pretty darn dull. When Logan moves in and starts trying to hit on her, she is really confused but definitely attracted. Logan is undercover trying to get close to her so that he can catch her brother. He is determined to do whatever it takes. He doesn't expect to be intrigued, attracted and just plain liking Pepper. His single minded focus at the beginning makes him seem pretty obnoxious. The initial interactions between the two are pretty strange, with Pepper wanting him but needed to maintain her disguise. When the action heats up and Pepper and Logan are no longer in disguise their relationship gets more intense. Pepper is furious at Logan's deception and feels used and betrayed. She also still wants him. I really enjoyed some of the things she put him through as they were working out their new relationship. She also has to decide who she can trust to keep her and her brother safe. Logan starts to feel really bad about his deception as he gets to know Pepper better, but he has to do what is necessary to bag her brother. I found the interactions between Logan and her brother very interesting. They also threw some interesting twists into the story. When the disguises are done with Logan has to try to find a way back into Pepper's good graces as she has come to mean far more to him that he ever expected. I liked the fact that while he is very alpha and protective, he also is able to acknowledge his feelings and the fact that Pepper really confuses him. The final showdown was excellent with a couple surprises thrown in. I enjoyed the mystery, continuing with the theme of drugs and human trafficking from the Edge of Honor series. There was also the problem of police corruption causing doubt over who could and could not be trusted. I also enjoyed the set up for the next book starring Logan's friend and coworker Reese and his neighbor Alice, and Rowdy with maybe the redhead. I'm not sure who Dash will end up with but I'm sure he'll be in there too.”ScoutmomSKF wrote this review Saturday, November 24, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“RUN THE RISK had good parts and ok parts for me. I’ve never been one big on crime romances, so right way that’s a strike against RUN THE RISK as our hero, Logan Riske is a detective out to revenge his friend’s death.
So the big picture plot was pretty much over my head and didn’t interest me. I did enjoy Logan and Pepper Yates. Although they meet under alias, probably over half the book takes place after their identities are revealed.
Logan’s actions put Pepper and her brother Rowdy at risk and together with his partner Reese, they all must put trust into each other and finally put away Morton Andrews for good.
You couldn’t not feel sorry for the life that Rowdy and Pepper were put through. I loved the deep bond between these siblings. Rowdy did everything in his power to protect Pepper and she would do the same for him.
The difference in Pepper once their identities were exposed was so dramatic in not only looks but personality. I was glad to see that Logan took to both her personalities.
Reese’s story got its foundation with his exclusive neighbor, Alice.

“Another great romantic suspence from Lori Foster. This is the first in the Love Undercover series and what a start it was.
When Logan, a detective, goes undercover to try to find someone he uses the guy's sister as a way to find him. In order to find his answers he must get close to the woman posing as Sue. Sue is a plain jane and she is definately hiding something but what?
Logan wants revenge for his friend and she just wants to stay hidden.
With secrets, seductions and suspitions everywhere this book just keeps you turning the pages!
I can't wait tp read the next in the series.”

A new romantic suspense series by Lori Foster, cue squeeeees of excitement!!! After enjoying Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor so much, I was starting to feel the void of her se xy alpha men. RUN THE RISK delivered on alphas with an exciting story that captured my interest from the beginning and never let go.
I actually enjoyed the change of pace with the type of suspense in this series. This wasn't so much human trafficking and more undercover detective work. Still plenty of suspense, still bad guys who may not really be the bad guys, and quite a bit of action. The twists and turns in the story kept it refreshing and kept me interested. I really couldn't keep up with guessing what would happen. I also enjoyed that people were never what they seemed.
Logan Riske is so hot and delicious. I can totally picture him lounging around, no shirt, jeans hung low on his hips, comfortable barbequeing and drinking a beer. Casual and cool. And extremely hot. He wants to do the right thing, which is why he's still investigating and doing his undercover work. He wants to catch the guy who killed his friend.
Pepper Yates was a bit of a surprise for me. It was almost like having two of her in the book. The original Pepper and the new and improved. I think I liked both in their different roles. First mousy with a hint of bold. Then bold with a hint of vulnerable. She loves her brother and takes risks for him. But she also takes risks with her heart and lets Logan in.
Of course, I always love a good side story and secondary characters. Reese and Alice have a little connection there but Reese (Logan's partner) has a lot on his plate to pursue anything. I enjoyed them both a lot and can't wait to read their book next. Of course, my bad memory, I don't remember Alice but apparently she's from TRACE OF FEVER. Must revisit that book before her story comes out in BARE IT ALL in April.
