Shelfari edited the description of Downsized Wednesday, March 14, 2012.
Downsized weaves three storylines together. Quade O'Bric suddenly is faced with loss of the job he loves, threat of divorce, and the apparent deception of his boss, an old friend. How he deals with these situations and the intrigue he uncovers introduces us to colorful characters and unforeseen ties. Quade O'Bric is a popular sportswriter and reasonably happy until he is confronted with termination at work and the fact that his wife can no longer tolerate his drinking, overeating, and the general neglect of his family. He has to reevaluate his priorities and struggle to recover his life. Is there any hope of reconciliation and is a risky football game really the answer? In 1979 Edward McNeill was diagnosed with a neuro-degenerative disease (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) which was thought terminal. However, although ALS has limited many activities, Mr. McNeill has dedicated the past 30 years to writing novels. His storytelling talent comes shining through in his Downsized.
