“I love this story (and I really think that her earlier works were better, when she was just trying to tell a story without having a much deeper meaning behind everything).
The Black Gryphon is a wonderful story about the average people caught up in a terrible war. Through the carnage and destruction, the characters find love, learn about themselves and each other, and defend the land and people they love from the enemy. Skandranon is a wonderful character, but it's really the whole cast that makes this story sparkle. Zhaneel (his love interest) develops nicely throughout the story from ashamed and shy to proud and confident. Other characters' pride is taken down a notch or two and still others make new friends.
There are thrilling passages, sad travails, soaring adventures and a great deal of love and friendship. I really think this is a wonderful book for fantasy lovers.”
“I simply adore the cover artwork, which can seldom be said. The book itself is an enjoyable read, with plenty of feathery fluff balls in combat.”

Along the way other charecters are reveled like Amberdrake the healer and Tamsin. The main villian in the book is the mage of fire. in the book though the fight took most of the book buthey were confusing to read in the book they told many qoutes which were said by Skandranon which means he was intellingent. the book was overall good but was longer than it need to be.”

It is artfully written, and the main character (a gryphon) is personified so well that you would almost forget he is not human as you get lost in his story and identify with him.”
