The Christ Commission

by Og Mandino

In front of eight million TV viewers, "The Greatest Mystery Writer in the World" bragged he could prove Christ was actually stolen from the tomb and never really rose from the dead . . . if he were given just one week back in ancient Jerusalem.  That night author Matt Lawrence got his wish.  A knock-out punch took him right out of this world and landed him in Biblical Judea in 26 A.D., just six... This is an absolutely gripping fictional account of an atheist traveling through time one night after announcing to the world on the Johnny Carson show that he can prove that Christ's body was stolen from the tomb, instead of rising from the dead. Mr. Mandio's brief tour of ancient Judaism and the holy land at the time of Christ captured my imagination and I was unable to put the book down....there was no room on the table but that's not the main reason. All Christians should read this book. It will be one of the few books I will read a second time.

One of my favorite books! A creative way to learn about Christ and the people that surrounded him during his ministry. I learned a lot and really enjoyed Mandino's style of writing.

It has been awhile since I read this and I remember it really stayed with me and I searched for years to get a hardbound copy. I finally found one on eBay. This is a fictional account of some of the people present during Christ's last days. It is very interesting and a real page turner once you get into it. It gives you some thought provoking things to ponder and is quite enjoyable.

Just like The Da Vinci Code, this is also a fictional novel(fact-based,though). Tells of the experiences of the significant characters in the Crucifixion; the characters recounted what really transpired before and after. Sort of a "backstage" information on Jesus' remaining hours.
