  • Mason Starling: Champion fencer for Gosforth Academy. Wants a spot on the national team, maybe even Olympics. Is claustrophobic since she was six years old and got locked in an abandoned garden shed for three days by her brother Rory.
  • The Fennrys Wolf: Appears in the middle of a storm and can't remember who he is.
  • Rory Starling: The younger of Mason's two older brothers. Popular, callous, pompous, and full of himself.
  • Rothgar Starling: Mason's older brother. 22 years old. Had a way of making people get very quiet and still around him.
  • Heather Palmerston: Calum's ex-girlfriend. Part of the fencing club, not really committed to it. Has a gift of knowing when people are in love.
  • Calum Aristarchos: On the fencing club, tough opponent. Ex-Navy Seal
  • Toby Fortier: Fencing coach drill sergeant
  • Gunnar Starling: Mason's father. One of the wealthiest men in North America. Loves boats and trains. His ancestors had dedicated their lives in service to the Aesir - the gods of Norse legend - and awaited their return to the mortal realm.

  • Rafe: Real name is Anubis. Jackal-headed Egyptian god of the dead. Was thrown out of his own realm
  • Etienne/ghost: Can conjure visions of the realms of the dead
