“Willems, Mo. Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs. New York: Balzer & Bray, 2012. Print.
Mo Willems take on the story of Goldilocks is very funny. There is a trend to write fractured fairy tales for children. Looking at the story we all know from a different perspective or telling it in a different way. This book is an excellent way to introduce the genre to children. The story begins with the entrapment. Three dinosaurs are setting up little Goldilocks hoping she’ll break in and fulfill her side of the story. They purposely cook pudding to different temperatures and leave a ladder in a convenient place so Goldilocks can reach the pudding.
This book made me laugh out loud and I look forward to sharing it with my students and patrons. I highly recommend this book for children ages 2-6. As a picture book for the intended age group I rate it 5 stars.
