First of all I am a pacifist. Second of all the Civil War has always interested me. This war separated families and tore a young nation nearly to shreds. This book is a tie-in to the PBS series and it is well-documented. The illustrations as well as the narrative are flawless. The book and series underlined the issue of state's rights and slavery.
