This book is absolutely, positively PHENOMENAL! The author's writing style is interesting, with plenty of vivid descriptions. The idea had intrigued me from the start, but I was a little bit hesitant: I didn't want to read a book about a wasteland full of zombies. But this book is anything but: It is set in a lush forest environment, with conflicts between the "Groundies" and the "Lofties", the former, as you may have gathered, living on the forest floor at the mercy of the Scourge, and the latter living safe in the trees, but relying on the former for the valuble water, supplied by the main character, Fennel, whos sightlessness protects her from the dreadful creatures that are the Scourge. But beware, for betrayall is around every corner, and the "Scourge" may not be what they seem. Can Fenell protect herself and her people from lies and deciet, and can her blindness protect her from the deady Scourge? And will she ever be able to love freely her guardian, a Lofty?
