Another great John Corey tale. I was riveted the whole way through. And I enjoyed learning a bit about Yemen in the process. But the ending was awfully sudden. And the final chapter meant to resolve all the dangling issues (of which there were many, all major) was extremely thin and felt rushed.

Good heavens this book needed to be half the size. The last 20% was very exciting. The first 80% was boring and repetitive and repetitive and repetitive. Although, I'm practically an expert on Yemen now.
I loved all the previous John Corey books.

Nelson DeMille is one of my favorite authors. Not the literary John Steinbeck type, but the guilty pleasure, can't wait for his next book type. I might have to initiate a breakup after this book. It was OK, which is why I gave it three stars, but it wasn't gripping and the first 300-400 pages were redundant. John Corey was pedantic, obnoxious and occasionally funny. His wife Kate was a doormat. The majority of the book takes place in Yemen, yet at the end of 600+ pages, I knew very little more about Yemen and its people and what makes them tick than at the beginning. The last 300 pages were better, but still left me with a lot of unanswered questions and the desire to smack John Corey upside the head.

I love Nelson DeMille. Have read every one of his books. I hate to not give this book a better rating. Love the main characters in the book - John & Kate. But the book was almost like a history lesson - some info interesting & some not so much. Not a lot of "action", and the best action part didn't happen until the last couple of chapters (and this was a very thick book).

Another great book by De Mille, and this one had a surprise ending. I was taken in from the first chapter and it didn't disappoint until the end.

Two intelligence agents from New York are sent to Yemen to track down an American born terrorist and find themselves also the target of the CIA. Great action, intrigue, and cultural descriptions. It made me not wanting to visit Yemen any time soon.

I like DeMille, but I am getting tired of books involving threats to the world, Al Qaeda and serial killers. I am beginning to think that a simple single murder mystery is harder to write, because there isn't enough action for most readers today. The General's Daughter was really good and it didn't involve world threats, etc.

I thought this book was good. The characters were very colorful especially John Corey and very well developed. I had started listening to this book on audio but it just took to long to. It was done well. It goes faster if you read it. This has been a fun series to read. I think this one of Nelson Demille's longest series that he has written so far. I could be wrong.
