Ridiculously Simplified Synopsis edit

- Mallory: A seventeen-year old girl who has been trained to fight daimons. Doesn't have many friends because she's always moving around with Adam for security's sake.
- Kaleb: An eighteen-year old cur. A handsome, tough yet caring daimon, he works as an assassin for Haage. Also enters the competition in order to secure a better living for himself and Zevi.
- Aya: An eighteen-year old daimon from a high caste. She shuns the societal rules and joins the competition in order to become a part of the government. Refuses to marry her fiance, Belias, because she doesn't want children.
- Belias: A daimon from a high caste who loves Aya. He is fiercely protective of her and respects her individuality.
- Adam: Mallory's adoptive witch father. Is married to Selah by law, and so has custody over Mallory lawfully until she reaches majority.
- Evelyn: Adam's sister, who is also a witch. Has grown up hating daimons for murdering her parents. Is cold and calculating.
- Marchosias: The respected, capable ruler of daimons. Helped win the war against witches a long time ago. Birth father to Mallory.
- Selah: Birth mother to Mallory, who strikes a deal with Adam in order to protect her from Marchosias. A Watcher.
- Zevi: Kaleb's packmate. Is fiercely loyal to Kaleb, and cares about him very much. Can move at an incredible speed.
- Haage: A notorious assassin. Marchosias's brother. Attempted to rebel against him out of greed for the throne, but has failed repeatedly.
